Privacy policy / local first
01 The short version
Your documents never leave your browser. Last updated: August 2026.
What stays local
MdGenr's parser, syntax highlighter, mermaid renderer, table-of-contents builder, and autosave all run as client-side JavaScript in your browser. The Markdown you type, the rendered preview, and your drafts stored in IndexedDB are processed on your machine and are never transmitted to our servers.
What we collect
We do not require accounts and do not collect personal information directly. Like most websites, our hosting provider may log standard technical data — IP address, request time, user agent — for security and operations. If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to send.
Third-party scripts
The editor loads open-source libraries (marked, highlight.js, mermaid) and fonts from public CDNs such as jsDelivr and Google Fonts. These providers see standard web requests (your IP and the files requested) under their own privacy policies. No content from your document is included in those requests.
Cookies and advertising
We may display advertising served by third-party networks such as Google AdSense. These partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com. Third-party ad networks have their own privacy policies; we are not responsible for their practices.
IndexedDB and your drafts
Autosave writes your document to IndexedDB, a storage area inside your own browser. It is not a cloud backup: clearing your browser's site data removes the draft permanently. Use the export buttons (HTML, PDF, or .md) to keep copies of anything important.
Children's privacy
MdGenr is a writing tool for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
