MdGenr ("we", "us") is responsible for mdgenr.com. This page describes the data we handle and the control you have over it. The summary: the Markdown you write never leaves your device, because that is where the calculation runs.
Scope of this policy
MdGenr does one thing — as a Markdown editor with live preview it renders Markdown to typeset HTML as you type, with a table of contents, syntax highlighting, mermaid diagrams and export to HTML, PDF or Markdown. It parses the Markdown to an abstract syntax tree and renders it in the preview pane on each keystroke, so the preview and the exported file come from the same parse rather than two separate renderers. What follows concerns only that tool and the inputs involved in it.
Everything the tool works with — the Markdown you write — is handled locally. It is usually reached for things like exporting notes to PDF, and because nothing is transmitted a visitor can close the tab knowing no copy was made anywhere.
The inputs you provide
All processing happens on your device. Your input is handed to the page's own script, a result comes back, and that is the whole exchange. No request leaves your machine, and no copy of what you entered exists once the tab is closed.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, and object to how it is used. Given how little MdGenr collects, the answer will usually be short, but the right stands.
Updates to this page
The policy is kept current with the site. When something material changes, the date at the top is updated so the revision is visible.
What is collected automatically
The hosting layer sees what any web server sees — client address, requested path, user agent, time — and that is the limit of it. None of those records contains the values you type into the Markdown editor with live preview, because those never reach the server.
Cookies, ads and advertising partners
We use one first-party cookie for the consent choice and nothing more. Any other cookies come from advertising partners outside our control; they can be blocked or deleted in your browser, and doing so costs the tool nothing, because the calculation is independent of them.
Analytics and aggregate statistics
Usage statistics, when collected, are anonymous and aggregated. They tell us which pages are useful; they do not identify you and they never include your input to the calculator.
Data you paste into a tool
Because everything runs client-side, pasting a private key, a production config or an access token into the tool does not transmit it. Review nothing you would not paste into a text file on your own machine.
Storage, security and how long things last
No personal calculation data is held by us at any point, which makes retention a non-issue for the tool. The site itself is delivered over encrypted connections and kept up to date.
Children and the site
Nothing here targets users under 13. If a child has sent personal details through the site, tell us and we will delete them.
